In Year 1 we cover a variety of topics including learning about our local area, road safety and 'Where in the World is Barnaby Bear?' In Science we learn about our senses, sound and hearing, growing plants and healthy eating. Whilst learning about toys from the past we link this to our science topic of pushing and pulling. When we look at different homes and houses in history, we learn about science topics such as materials and light and dark. We have great fun in the Summer Term when we go on our trip to Kew Gardens.
Weaving Project
Year 1 have been working with Mrs Morgan, our art teacher, and some parents to explore the world of weaving.
We looked closely to see how things are woven together and the types of materials and objects that can be used.
We practiced knotting, tying, twisting, looping materials and have learned to move materials up and under, through and over, in and out to create wonderful weavings both inside and outside the classroom.
We used the wire fence to weave ribbons in and out, over and under to create a picture.
